38 Popular Diets Ranked By Experts

Here’s How Health Experts Ranked 38 Of The Most Popular Diets

The best diets are easy to follow, nutritious, safe and effective for weight loss and preventing diabetes and heart disease.

U.S. News evaluated and ranked 38 diets with input from a panel of health experts. To be top-rated, a diet had to be relatively easy to follow, nutritious, safe and effective for weight loss and preventing diabetes and heart disease. The government-endorsed Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) snagged the top spot. You can check the sources of the rankings below for a more descriptive breakdown with reasons for the evaluation.

You have to keep in mind that many of the evaluations may be based on the reviewer’s understanding of “easy to follow” or “effective’. You however may disagree after reading what actually influenced the reviewer’s grading on a particular diet. At the very least, you can use this list to investigate further.

For example, the paleo diet was ranked #37 – because “duplicating such a regimen in modern times would be difficult.”  It may well be for the reviewer, but probably not for a person needing an urgent remedy for a serious heart problem or an immediate solution for losing weight fast, Such a person would do anything to get off of drugs and improve his problems.
